Count Debbie Brand among the thousands of transplanted Oregonians who came here to visit and never wanted to leave.
“On our honeymoon in 1977, my husband and I decided to just drive north and see if we couldn’t find a better place to live. “We really were tired of the crowds and the fast pace in California,” recalls Debbie. “We drove through Oregon in April, when everything was lush and green, the tulips were blooming, and it looked like heaven here. That’s all it took! Within a short time we found jobs here and moved to Oregon!”
A 31-year resident of Philomath, Debbie has volunteered much of her time to community activities, including her children’s schools and sports organizations.
“As our children grew older and needed me less land less,” says Debbie, “I was ready for a career outside the home. I had been keenly interested in real estate when we bought and sold our homes, and the more I learned about the profession, the better I liked it.”
“My father had always predicted I’d do well in real estate,” laughs Debbie, “so once again ‘Father Knows Best.’”
